When do we get our life???
September 19, 2006 @ 7:09 a.m.

There's this guy in my office, 23 years old, resently married, has 3 month old twins, goes out on the weekends to the river sometimes, goes out with friends and family, has his own business that he's very busy with so his wife can stay home with the kids....and low and behold, his mom is mad because he doesn't spend alot of time with her. For the last couple of days she's been calling him telling him that he hasn't been spending any time with her. She asked him where he was on Saturday, he replied at a wedding. OH you can go to a wedding but not come by and see me. I guess I'll never see my grandkids. I asked him how many times does he see his mother. He said at LEAST 2-3 times a month. Now his wife is mad because she feels like she has to make time for the mother, and the mom just had back surgery so she's in bed recovering. WHAT CAN YOU DO WHEN YOU'RE RECOVERING FROM MAJOR BACK SURGERY???
Anyways, he went on to tell his mom that he's been really busy with work, his personal work, as well as trying to spend time with the babies. His mom thinks that he needs to put her somewhere in there too.
I told him that once he got married and had kids that his priority changed. His main concern is his kids and his wife. He said he knows but his mom just doesn't get it. He has a sister that he's not to fond of, and tries to avoid at all costs. His mother tricked him into going to dinner and scolded him about how he needs to get his relationship with his sister back on track. She's a major f-up and the parents bend over backwards for her. When he tries to plan something with his wife and kids, the mom says well I was going to do something tonight, can't you reschedule?

WOW!!! Here's my question.... once you've become a wife, husband, mother, father, moved in with someone, or just involved....WHEN DO WE GET OUR OWN LIFE AND STOP HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT WHAT THE PARENTS WANT? I just don't believe it. Just because YOU want to have your kids underfoot all the time and to visit, you need to realize that they have lives too.
GOOD LUCK GUY, I HOPE ALL TURNS OUT WELL.
