Happy New Year
January 07, 2008 @ 12:52 p.m.

So it's been several months, ok fine so I've been busy and sick.
I think in my last post I was sick for Thanksgiving. Well I was sick for Christmas and New Years. And now I still have a cough that won't go away for the world.
This morning I woke to snow. It was cool, but when I got on the 15 freeway going south, wow there was alot of snow on the side of the road. I never drove in ice or snow. Last year when it snowed I stayed home, this time I came in. It's kind-of scary but different. Not knowing if your car is going to go in another direction is nerve racking.
I still haven't gotten to the SS office or DMV to change my name. I'll do it soon, I've made calls to all of my creditors to see what I need to do, alot of them just want me to sign some papers, that's it. What ever. I contacted my bank and they want to see the marriage cert, so that's cool.
My mailbox came up missing. It's one of those that have about 12 boxes together. I called the post office and come to find out someone ran into it and it's there at the post office. We've been having alot of mailboxes broken into and stollen, so that's what I thought might have happened to ours.
My sister's baby, my niece is a MAJOR walker. On Christmas, she was walking all over the place. She's really smart too. HB had her and was showing her how to rip off the wrapping paper. As soon as 1 piece was torn she had at it. It went well, she (the baby) and I got sick that night. She was coughing all day and I was holding her alot so I figure we gave it to each other.
My dad's birthday is Saturday. I would like to call him, but their phone is still out of order. So if LA reads this tell him I may stop by, if I'm not coughing my lungs out. Just let him know I said happy birthday just in case I don't make it. I'll try and get a card in the mail in the meantime. I think every year since I've moved to the High Desert I've taken him out to breakfast or dinner for his birthday and father's day. It's nice, we have a good time talking. All the noise isn't around, just that of the resturant. Plus it gives us time for ourselves. It's cool when I call because they'll say Hey Uncle B, your daughter's on the phone. And he'll reply oh K's on the phone. Which makes me feel really good to think that out of the 3 with K's that it's me that's he thinks is calling. I'm glad that I listened to my husband about making amends with my dad before it's too late. His father died before he could tell him how he felt about him and there's times when I know he wishes that he did. So he kept on me to make sure I sent the birthday cards and Father day card even though he didn't send me a birthday card. He said just because he doesn't do it doesn't mean he doesn't care. Dad has all of his kids b-days on his calendar. So he knows when they are. He just doens't like to make the phone calls. So over the years I've stopped looking for the cards and the phone calls and accepted him for who he is. When I do call and talk to him, it's pretty cool with some of the stories he tells. I don't like the ones about Vietnam, but it's part of my history as far as family and as a part of world history too.
Anyways, I'm going to finish my lunch break and get back to work. We'll see if it's another month and a half before I update again.
